Legal
Last updated: May 31, 2026 · Effective date: May 31, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and CodeOak ("we", "us", or "our"), a service operated by an individual sole trader, governing your access to and use of codeoakai.com and all related services (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
CodeOak is a coding interview practice product focused on Python and SQL. It includes coding workspaces, assessments, roadmap guidance, and AI-assisted practice features.
The current public launch offers a Free plan with usage limits. Paid plans may be introduced later. If paid plans become available, the pricing page and these Terms will be updated before they can be purchased.
AI-assisted features send the prompts, questions, and code you submit to a third-party large language model provider to generate practice content. We store these submissions and the generated responses to deliver the feature and review quality and abuse; identifying fields are scrubbed on a retention schedule. See our Privacy Policy for what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
To use the Service, you must:
Users under 18 may use the Service with parental or guardian consent.
To access the full Service, you must create an account. When registering, you agree to:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are used for fraudulent or abusive activity, or remain inactive for more than 12 consecutive months.
Current plans
The current public launch centres on the Free plan and the usage limits shown in-product. If paid plans are introduced, checkout terms, pricing, renewal behaviour, and any refund policy will be shown at purchase time and reflected here before those plans go live.
Billing when paid plans are active
Refunds
Because CodeOak is a digital service that provides immediate access to AI-generated content and personalised practice systems, all payments are final and non-refundable once a billing period has started, except where required by applicable law.
If you are an EU or UK consumer, you acknowledge that by activating a paid subscription and accessing paid-tier features you are requesting immediate performance of the digital service and expressly waive your right of withdrawal under the EU Consumer Rights Directive and equivalent UK legislation. Nothing here affects your statutory rights where local consumer protection laws cannot be excluded.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, we may retry the charge and may suspend access to paid features until the outstanding amount is settled. We will notify you by email of any failed payment.
You may not use CodeOak to abuse infrastructure, bypass usage limits, access other users' data, or violate applicable law. Specifically, you must not:
We reserve the right to investigate violations and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating your account and reporting conduct to law enforcement.
The Service, including all AI-generated practice questions, assessment content, roadmap structures, UI design, code, text, graphics, and branding (collectively, "CodeOak Content"), is owned by CodeOak and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial practice and learning purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, or exploit any CodeOak Content outside the Service without our prior written consent.
Your own original code solutions submitted during practice sessions remain yours. By submitting them, you grant CodeOak a limited licence to process and display them within the Service for the purpose of providing feedback and tracking your progress.
If you provide feedback or suggestions about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use that feedback without any obligation to you.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation.
We do not warrant that: (a) the Service will meet your specific requirements; (b) the Service will be available at all times; (c) AI-generated practice content will be free from errors; or (d) use of the Service will guarantee success in job interviews or assessments.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CodeOak shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
In any case, CodeOak's total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the total amount you paid to CodeOak in the three months preceding the claim.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CodeOak from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights, or (c) any content you submit through the Service.
By you: You may delete your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing support@codeoakai.com. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription at the end of the current billing period.
By us: We may suspend or terminate your access immediately and without notice for material breaches of these Terms, or with 30 days' notice for any other reason. If we terminate for reasons other than your breach, we will provide a pro-rated refund for any remaining paid period.
Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases. Sections 7 (Intellectual Property), 8 (Disclaimers), 9 (Limitation of Liability), 10 (Indemnification), and 12 (Governing Law) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by applicable law. We aim to resolve disputes informally — please contact us at support@codeoakai.com first and we will make every effort to resolve your concern within 30 days.
If you are an EU or UK consumer, you retain all rights afforded by the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence. EU consumers may also use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
